It's been a while since i blogged about my art class. i have only two new students. One is a 5 years old with a Japanese name- Harue. The other is 3 and a half years old. Her Chinese name end with a 'Bing' so her family call her 'Bing Bing', or simply in English, Ice Ice.

Today we finished the 'matress' that we've done half-way last week. Then we proceed to colouring another drawing with crayons, which is a cute picture of a bee and a flower. They've never seen a bee before so i told them to colour yellow and black stripes. Actually the picture is quite misleading for kids. First, bees don't smile, they sting. Second, bees don't go around collecting honey using a bucket like a rubber tapper. So the kind of impression kids will get is bees are friendly creatures, they like collecting honey so much they're smiling all the time. But they're just kids, so i suppose it's ok. =P

H asked where does bees live? i told her they live in this hive which has a lot of little rooms. i don't know if she really understands but seeing her face in concentration as she digests the information is really cute. H and Ice are both very talkative, as every pre-schooler is, i once read. Sometimes listening to their squabbling can bring a chuckle or two.

Then H announces that the bee is a mother bee. "Cos the papa bee has to work and so wakes up later. The Mama bee always wakes up earlier to collect the honey." i didn't tell her only worker bees collect honey and Queen bee stays in the hive.
