Marketing Case Study: Georgie's Mart in Prince George Park Residence
Today, standing behind a long queue at the only counter, i realised that the store manager of Georgie's Mart is very good at arranging the merchandise in the store.
The tidbits, for example, potato chips and packets of nuts are arranged in the aisle in which the long queue will pass through.
While queing up, your eyes will undoubtedly look around you.
And what do you see?
You're sandwiched between two aisle filled with crunchy and delicious tidbits. (You can practically hear Mr. Potato sreaming at you to take him off the shelf.)
Your hands will feel itchy and in the end you stretch your hand out to grab that packet of potato chips that you've been eyeing.
I mused when i saw the Indian guy in front of me grab a packet of nachos off the shelf.
Meanwhile the store manager might be somewhere in a small room at the back of the store, watching the CCTV and congratulated herself for her good marketing strategy.
And opening only one counter during the peak hour is definitely another good strategy for it ensures that the queue is long enough to reach into the aisle.
The longer you stay in the shop, the higher chance it is that you will buy something (on the spur of the moment).
But then again, i maybe reading too much into stuff. Heh.
