During CNY, there are a lot of advertisements on telly which are of this festive mood. Among them all, the one i liked the most is the Petronas advertisement.

i think the advertisement has successfully struck a chord in everyone who saw it. Kudos to those who made the ad. i can't stop discussing the ad with whoever i met during CNY. Heh.

The ad goes like this:

In round table, 4 old ladies were sitting together having lunch, sort of in a reunion dinner way. One lady, Lady A, began to talk about her daughter, who is a lawyer and now earning lotsa money.

Lady B then asked about Lady A's son; which Lady A replied her son is now doing some business, selling ling zhi that expand to overseas, such as Hong Kong. She then added even Andy Lau knows his son!

The other ladies were so impressed. Eager to show off, Lady C then said that her son is now a cardiologist in UK, earning 20 thousand per surgery that he operated on.

Unwilling to lag behind, Lady B added that her daughter is now a partner in a famous audit company, earning big bucks as well.

All this while, Lady D has been keeping quiet. Satisfied that she has boasted about her daughter, Lady B asked Lady D, " What about your son?", with a smirk on her face.

i began to feel sorry for Lady D as it soon became apparent that her son might not be as successful as other ladies' children.

However, the timid-looking Lady D replied," My son? He's fine. He's healthy. In fact, he going to fetch me soon."

To this, the camera pans out. The setting is actually at an old folks' home.

At that moment, a car arrived. Everyone turned to look at it, wondering who it might be. Recognising that it's her son, Lady D's face lit up immediately with happiness.

"That's my son! My son.."

Waving goodbye to her friends, Lady D began walking to her son's car, leaving the rest of the ladies behind. They continue to eat in silence, each lost in their own thoughts, probably wondering why their own children haven't come and fetch them...

i was touched when i watched it the first time. =)
