Today has got to be the most productive and fulfilling day since i came here. =)

Morning:
Went to the briefing for the Science Orientation Week that i've signed up, listened to what the director called, in his own words, his 'gold and jade words' (think a chinese proverb). There're going to be a half-day event at Sentosa's Palawan Beach, some sleep-overs at Tutorial Rooms, Rag Day and Flag Day. Ooh...sounds like fun.

Afternoon:
Orientation for International Students.
Started with the usual welcoming speech by Dean of Students, then the various offices. Touched on things like the Student's Pass, tuition grant, etc. The MC is actually a Lex Luthor look alike from Arts. Then he called out the names of the countries, and students from that country are suppposed to stand up and waved. So we have students from Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Pakistan, Mauritius, New Zealand, Brunei, Indonesia; forming the bulk which are students from Vietnam, China and Malaysia.

The most interesting part is the 'special presentation'. It's actually like a fashion show where some seniors clad in the national costume of some countries like Netherlands, India, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Myanmar. So yeah, there's a myriad of colours and well, nationalities.

Night:

It's sort of like a common room. Some are playing board games, some are using the computers; the seniors told us what we want to know, and patiently answering our questions. So you can imagine a very noisy room where there are at least a dozen people speaking at the same time, not mentioning the loud cries that sometimes come from the board game table. i never realise that board games can be so exciting. =P

But the gem of the night must be that i've finally find a freshie, someone like me in my cluster! And the most funny and ridiculous thing is that i recognised her only from the slippers she was wearing. You must be thinking this is ridiculous right. But you see, a cluster has 15 rooms, share the kitchenette and the washrooms. To each room, we have our own transponder (a key-like electronic sensor), so we're pretty much 'isolated' from other residents even in the same cluster.

And because my cluster is still pretty much empty, i've only met a few of the other residents. And because i pass by S's room everyday, though i've never really met her before, i remember her slippers. Bright red slippers.

So when i met her at the Function Room again, i accidentally saw her slippers. The exact bright red slippers. Too much of a coincidence i thought and i asked her whether she's staying at Block 10. One thing led to another and we found out we're actually in the same cluster and the same row. This bring about hysterical laughters.

The irony is not lost. We've been staying there a few days and we never met each other. i've actually said 'hello' to her friend but not to her. She's also from Malaysia. Ipoh actually. Her former school is Sam Tet. We did their school's trial paper back in form 6. She planned to do the same major as me and we both have a blog.

i've also met other fellow Malaysians, though haven't met any from Malacca yet. And S's friend, another S, actually suggested we start a Malaysian Association.

The night end on a high note. =)
