Yes and no. i was right and wrong. Teaching is not as easy as i thought but it's not bad either. i'll say it's bitter-sweet. Ok, i do not intend to get all oxymoron here but that's just how things turn out for me. =p

i'm in charge of five students in my class. Yup, just 5. But that can get pretty 'stress' sometimes. Try to control five hyperactive, screaming kids at the same time and you'll know what i mean. My job is to coach them in their homeworks and make sure they finish them on time, i.e, before they go home at 6 p.m. Observe that 'coach' is the chosen word here, cos, when they can't finish on time, i'll have to tell them all the answers and make sure they write them properly (don't give me that disapproving *tsk* *tsk* cos that's how the system works). The reason they can't finish are aplenty: talking/ playing/ shouting/ going to the toilet/ eating/ filing their water bottles for too long. You'll be amaze at the excuses these kids come out to avoid doing the homework. Very creative indeed. They'll say anything to get out of the classroom.

Poor kids. Sometimes i pity them. Imagine that, they have to do their homework from 2.30 to 6.00 p.m and sometimes it's not because of the excuses but the workload the skool teacher gave them. The Standard Three kids came there one day with 9 homework each. At the end of the day, not only they are tired, i'm totally drained too. And i'm suppose to give them all the correct answers, check their homework so they'll have a perfect score in every exercise/practice.

Hey, when i was in my primary skool, i DID my own homework (ok, with some help from my parents occasionally, but not like this) and a wrong answer means getting caned for it, and that's that. There's no such thing as 'after-skool class'. Parents these days are getting busy, i understand, more and more parents are both working. So are mine. And i turned out fine even without these classes, so are all my friends. But since i'm getting paid for it so i guess i better keep my mouth shut. =P

Student #1: A cute Standard 3 boy. Yup, he's cute WHEN he actually listens to me and do his homework. Sometimes asks funny questions that you can't help but laugh out loud. =) Likes to grin a lot.

Student #2: A good-looking Standard 3 boy. Classmates with Student#1. Both of them have a penchant for 'sumo wrestling'. When i can't 'entangle' them, i'll let them wrestle on. They're good friends really so i can asure you there's no violence involved.

Student#3: Standard 1 boy. Likes to draw cartoons and running around the centre.

Student#4: Standard 6 boy. Brother of Student#3. Do his own homework by himself. Very good at drawing.

Students#5: Standard 6 girl. Sister of Student#1. Nice kid.

Kids will always be kids. Although it's quite frustrating sometimes but it can be rewarding too. After spending some time with them, they'll remind you of your inner child. And how you yourself used to be a kid too. They'll laugh at tinniest joke and they find practically everything funny. Isn't that what us- the so called grown-ups need sometimes? To be able to take things lightly and to laugh silly at ourselves. =)
