Yay.
But that, is only half of the job scope. i have yet to acquire a single book. It would be depressing if i had been so hardworking sending out emails. But the fact is, i hadn't even got started seriously. I will, soon. It's a new year coming, I had to get started somehow, somewhere, if only i could squeeze that in into my daily workload...
Everyday is crazy. While i'm busy typing away to reply emails from author queries, piles of papers--- proofs returned, agreements, sometimes manuscripts--- get 'plonked' onto my desk all the time. There are always so many things to do at once and yet so little time.
But i guess the best part of the job is i get to communicate with these highly educated professors, hear what they want, and help them to publish books and journal papers. The satisfaction that you get when you know you're doing something right, when the authors are happy, is immense. Another best part is ---i get to keep the books i published! i would definitely look forward to the day when i have a cupboard full of books that i can proudly say i'm the editor, or when i walk into bookshops i can point and declare that i publish which and which books.
i hope i can read this entry again six months later and still find the same enthusiasm.
Work aside, i miss Cameron Highlands. i hope to go back again, soon.

The clean air, fresh vegetables, it's the ideal place for vegetarians really. i dream of the highlands everyday. It has become a sense of motivation (to skimp on annual leaves so i can save enough and go there again for a long holiday. Maybe i should get a printout of the breathtaking scenery there and paste it in my cubicle. Hmm..)
